Creating a User Group in the Mailprotector Console

Description

This document covers how to move Console users into separate user groups. This is commonly used to ensure that the correct users can access the correct Mailprotector products.

Creating User Groups

  1. Sign in to the Mailprotector Console.
  2. Visit the Domain needing a separate User Group.
  3. Follow the instructions below:
    • CloudFilter (or non-Shield) domains
    • Shield domains

CloudFilter (or non-Shield) domains

  1. Click on the Default group next to the Domain name.*
  2. Click on Manage your list of groups.
  3. Click on Add group. Give it a descriptive name. Choose the add-on products for the group.**
  4. Click Add Group at the bottom of the page.
  5. Click on Group and change back to the Default group name.*
  6. Click the Users tab, select the users you wish to move to the new group, then click on the moving van icon.
  7. Choose the new destination User Group, then click Move.

*NOTE: The Default group may be renamed All Users or another name based on any changes made by the Reseller manager accounts.

**NOTE: Once a domain is created, you cannot change the Gateway security. The only way to change the Gateway security is to delete the entire domain. This also deletes any users, logs, and configurations for the domain.

 

 

Shield domains

See the video below for these steps to guide you through:

  1. Click in the web address field of your web browser and append /user_groups to the end of the URL for the domain, then go to that page.
    Example: Change https://emailservice.io/domains/46312 to https://emailservice.io/domains/46312/user_groups
  2. Click on Add group. Give it a descriptive name. Choose the add-on products for the group.** Click Add Group at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click in the web address field of your web browser and append /user_groups to the end of the URL for the domain. Then, go to that page.
    Example: Change https://emailservice.io/domains/46312 to https://emailservice.io/domains/46312/users
  4. Select the users you wish to move to the new group, then click on the moving van icon.
  5. Choose the new destination User Group, then click Move.

**NOTE: Once a domain is created, you cannot change the Gateway security. The only way to change the Gateway security is to delete the entire domain. This also deletes any users, logs, and setup for the domain.
