Description
Shield obtains the Name field from the Microsoft 365 tenant during onboarding. Shield continues to sync with any name changes within Microsoft. For this reason, any changes to the organization name displayed in Shield must be performed in Microsoft Entra.
The Display Name in Shield is configurable and is used for branding in the Shield Welcome Message and Email Security Briefing. However, the name imported from Microsoft to Shield during the initial onboarding is applied to all welcome messages sent to users onboarded during the deployment. As a result, only users added after onboarding would reflect a Microsoft Entra name change.
For this reason, we recommend reviewing and updating the Microsoft 365 tenant name before activating Shield to ensure consistent branding across all user communications.
Change the Shield Organization Name
- Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center using a Global Administrator account.
- Select the Properties tab at the top of the page.
- In the Name field, enter your new tenant name.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
- Visit the Configure Preferences page in the Shield organization and click Sync.
The new tenant name will appear immediately in the Entra admin center, across the tenant's Microsoft services, and in all Shield locations.
