Description
This article provides steps for excluding specific domains from delivery through the Mailprotector outbound relay. These configurations are intended only to mitigate outbound transport IP reputation issues temporarily.
Applies To:
CloudFilter, SafeSend, Microsoft 365 (M365, O365)
Prerequisites
Please ensure that the Mailprotector outbound connector is configured before following the instructions below.
Route Around the Outbound Connector
Filtering, logging, SecureStore archiving, and Bracket encryption will not be available for outgoing messages of an address that is routed around the outbound connector. If you have any uncertainty regarding whether this change is necessary for your domain, please contact the Support team to discuss your need.
Modify the Connector
-
Open the Mailprotector/CloudFilter outbound connector. Under the When to use this connector section, adjust the connector to run Only when I have a transport rule set up that redirects messages to this connector.
Create the Rule
- The remaining connector options can be left as is, and the connector can be saved.
- Add a transport rule with a name of your choosing.
- Under Apply this rule if choose Sender is > Internal/External > Inside the organization then click the + and add a second condition Recipient is > Internal/External > Outside the organization.
- Under Do the following choose Redirect the message to > the following connector > the name of the outbound connector then click Save.
- Under Except if choose The recipient > domain is > enter each of the domains in this section, clicking Add after each domain then click Save. This excludes sending mail through the Mailprotector outbound relay to the specified domains.
- Confirm that all settings are correct, and then click Save.
- Click Next on the Set rule settings page.
- Click Finish on the Review and finish page.
- Once the rule is created click Done.
-
The rule is Disabled. Click the name of the rule to open the rule then click on Enable. Stay on the page until the yellow Updating section turns green.
Routing around the Mailprotector outbound connector is intended as a temporary solution. Once the root cause of the deliverability issue has been identified and resolved by Mailprotector, it is recommended that the outbound connector be returned to its previous configuration.
