Trust Network Decisions for New Senders

Description

Shield is a zero-trust email security solution. Each Shield user has their own individual network of trusted senders that begins building on day one. Over time, users can add more trusted senders to their Trust Network and customize Risk Levels per sender. This article covers mailbox interactions and Shield Portal interactions for new senders with no trust decision made.

Mailbox Interactions

Focused Inbox Actions for New Sender Messages

By default, the New Outlook Client is preset with a Focused Inbox. Mail sorts between the Focused and Other tabs within the Inbox. Microsoft provides more information about the Focused Inbox. Below are the drag-and-drop actions, their resulting Trust Decision, and their future delivery location.

Although some actions mentioned below specify that no action is taken, any action not listed below should be assumed to result in no change to the trust decision or the message delivery location for future messages.

Right-clicking a message and choosing to Move it to a different folder does not change the trust decision or the delivery location except for the actions listed below.

The Bundled folder mentioned below is available to Shield Pro: Bundler users.

How to Send Emails to Jail

In the meantime, you can still send an email to Jail. Here’s how:

  1. Open the message in X-ray by clicking the HUD in the message.
  2. Click the sender address to open its trust network settings.
  3. Set the Silence preference to Jail for the sender.

Decisions may also be made via New Sender banners, Email Security Briefings, and the Trust Network.

Because Shield factors in the sender's trust and insights into the individual message, the Trust Network cannot override moderate or high-risk message delivery locations.

In the meantime, you can still send an email to Jail. Here’s how:

Shield Portal Interactions

Choosing the following actions from within the Shield portal results in the following Trust Network delivery actions:

Trust Decision Delivery Selection Delivery Action
Trust Deliver Immediately Continue delivering messages from the sender to the Inbox
Trust Bundled Bundle messages from the sender with other bundled messages; remind the user to check the Bundled folder at set intervals
Silence Send to Junk Continue receiving messages from the sender to the Junk folder
Silence Send to Jail Move the message to Jail in the Portal; no further messages from the sender are delivered to the mail client; they go directly to Jail in the Portal
Silence Send to Trash Continue receiving the sender to the Deleted Items folder (designated as Trash on the Trust Decision page)
Silence Send to Archived Continue receiving the sender to the Archive folder

The Bundle option is available to Shield Pro: Bundler users.

Because Shield factors in the sender's trust and insights into the individual message, the Trust Network cannot override moderate or high-risk message delivery locations.
